Immtech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (the "Registrant") is focused on developing and commercializing drugs for infectious diseases. We target diseases with significant unmet medical needs and well-defined endpoints that can be evaluated in clinical trials of relatively short duration. Our strategy is to develop and commercialize a pipeline of new drugs to treat infectious diseases and other disorders. Infectious diseases in the global population have increased significantly during the past 20 years and, according to the World Health Organization ("WHO"), are the most common cause of death worldwide. Relatively few new drugs for the treatment of infectious diseases have been brought to market during the past two decades.
